WPO World Packaging Organisation week

The first day of WPO World Packaging Organisation week in South Africa began with a Press Conference with the presence of the local media and the international press that participated online.

During the event, #WPO President, Prof Pierre Pienaar  , highligthed the top trends in packaging around the globe – sustainability, smart packaging, globalization, artificial intelligence, and technology. He also reinforced the importance of packaging to the society, specially when it comes to save food and food safety.

Prof Pierre Pienaar introduced the Senior Vice President of Marketing, Luciana Pellegrino  , as WPO World Packaging Organisation President-elect to assume on November 23, right after #WPO Board Meeting.

According to Luciana Pellegrino , besides continuing the great projects of Prof Pierre Pienaar , her goal is to create a global voice for the global packaging industry.

Soha Atallah  , WPO World Packaging Organisation Vice President Events and WorldStar Awards Coordinator, was also part of the Press Conference and gave a teaser about the main innovations to be seen among #WorldStar winners that will be announced, in a gala ceremony, in June 2024, in Thailand.  

WPO World Packaging Organisation week in South Africa also includes an Executive Meeting, Working Group Meetings (Sustainability & Save Food, Education and Marketing) and the participation of the #WPO delegation in the Gold Pack Awards 2023 ceremony, the local packaging competition organized by #WPO member, Institute of Packaging South Africa (IPSA)  , that is hosting the #WPO delegation in Cape Town for the week.
